Connecting Your Domain to 4ormat
4ormat lets you connect your own custom domain that you’ve already purchased from a domain name registrar. For more information on why it's important to connect your domain properly, see this Knowledge Base Article.
Adding Your Domain to 4ormat
Enter your domain in your 4ormat account on the Settings Page under Connected Domain. If you're using a subdomain (like portfolio.example.com) make sure to include the subdomain. If you're connecting your top-level domain or the "www" subdomain you can just enter your top level-domain (for example: "example.com").
Connecting Your Domain
If you’ve already purchased your domain, you’ll need to login at your registrar to connect things. Since there are hundreds of domain registrars across the globe we can’t provide comprehensive tutorials for each one. Instead, we’ll use Namecheap as an example; you should be able to use the information to talk to your support team at your registrar if you can’t figure it out yourself (they should have technical support staff that can handle this kind of operation).
Connecting Your Domain from Namecheap.com
1) Login at Namecheap.com

2) Click on "view" next to "number of domains in your account".

3) Check the box next to the domain you'd like to edit (in the screenshot "example.com"), and choose "Edit Selected".

4) From the Modify Domain panel, select "URL Forwarding" under Host Management from the left menu.

5) In the URL Forwarding panel, for the "@" record, enter http://www.example.com where example is replaced by your real domain name; ensure to select "URL Redirect" from the dropdown. For the "www" record, enter 4ormat.com and select "CNAME" from the dropdown - please don't enter yoursubdomain.4ormat.com

Your Domain is now setup. Note that DNS updates can take several hours to update. You should be able to access your website at your domain (ex. http://example.com) once this is done.
If you're having trouble with this, please use this form and we can assist you with the procedure.
Thanks,
- 4ormat Team
